I am Salam Ullah, and my project is focused on understanding and analyzing microglia cells in the mouse brain. We use high-resolution light-sheet microscopy images of entire mouse brains, allowing us to visualize four different morphological classes of microglia. My pipeline detects these 4 types of microglia individual cells, tracks their movement over time, and classifies them based on structural features. A key challenge: tumors deform brain anatomy, making comparison difficult. I’m now adapting a deep learning tool called VoxelMorph to align these tumor-deformed brains more accurately than traditional methods.
